You can now store receipts within the Starship app
It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for! Okay, maybe that’s just us, but we think this news is pretty exciting. Receipt capture is finally here! Easily add receipts to purchase and reimbursement transactions right from within the Starship app.
How do you do it?
It’s super easy. Simply follow these steps to begin adding receipts to your transactions.
- Log in to your Starship account
- Head to the Activity screen (far right icon within your app)
- Tap a purchase or reimbursement transaction
- Choose Add Receipt
- Follow the prompts
Why should you store receipts?
It’s super rare, but… should the IRS audit you, you’ll need to have easy access to any and all receipts associated with your Starship account. Why? To prove that any purchase made using your account was a qualified medical expense. Storing receipts digitally is also just… easier. And who doesn’t want that?
Sweet! Can I throw out my original paper receipts?
Well… the IRS advises keeping paper receipts for up to 7 years. And we like to listen to the IRS.
But let’s be real, it’s easy to lose track of physical receipts! So it’s always good to have a backup. We definitely recommend using your Starship app as your backup digital record of receipts! And as long as you keep your Starship account, your digital receipts in our app will be stored forever.
